Why you must drink water

Did you know you should drink about 1-2 litres of water daily? Did you know if you don’t not only will your skin dehydrate but you will become toxic?

Yes, it’s true. When you don’t drink enough water all your internal organs suffer. Firstly the skin dehydrates and you get that flakey look which cannot be fixed with even the best of creams. Secondly your normal bodily functions are affected such as getting constipated and lastly almost every organ in your body suffers because you can’t flush out the toxins, your liver and blood becomes toxic.

Then you start to lose energy and vitality and retain fluid which makes you bloated and increases your weight. Your digestion doesn’t work properly, your metabolism slows down, your blood becomes more acidic and then the whole cycle starts again. Add to this smoking, alcohol, wheat, yeast and dairy (which are not really good for anyone due to food intolerances) and it becomes a recipe for disaster concerning your health.

So when it comes to health and fitness water, but just ordinary water, becomes important. Distilled water and reverse osmosis water tends to leach minerals from the body but clean, alkaline water becomes a must.

Alkaline water promotes good kidney function and is good for alkalising the blood. It flushes toxins from the body and prevents constipation whilst rehydrating the brain which increases its ability. This means it also rehydrates your skin and affects your digestion in a positive way helping you maintain weight and clearing out unwanted substances from your body. This increases your energy and gets you feeling better especially when it comes to helping you recover quickly from colds, flu and illnesses. So it affects your immunity levels, protects your organs and lubricates joints.

It is important though to not refill bottles from water as the plastic they are in can leach into the liquid especially if they have been kept in a hot car. Whilst a water filter is good it is important to keep the water in proper containers in the fridge if you want it cold and not plastic and if you are buying alkaline water in plastic bottles to ensure proper storage and throw them out when they are no longer of use.

Should you drink tap water? No. Whilst better than drinking no water at all it cannot cleanse your system to the extent alkalized water can. Also there is the chance, still, that it might contain some bacteria, despite precautions. We all remember the scare some years ago when we had to boil our water for weeks. Is it good enough to just boil your water? No. Boiling will get rid of bacteria etc but it will not alkalise the water to the extent your body needs it in this toxic, over acidic world we now live.
