High blood pressure can cause many illnesses

high blood pressure pic (1)High blood pressure can often be caused by not drinking enough water for many years. Water controls the balance in our body of acid and alkaline and many illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis can be controlled if this balance is maintained. Or maybe you will be healthy.

If you already have high blood pressure it’s too late. However it will help a lot to drink up to 2 litres daily. Eat less salt and get more exercise which will slow down many illnesses that come from an imbalance and inflammation such as heart failure, osteoporosis, excess fluid build-up, kidney stones, asthma, stomach ulcers etc. It’s a good idea to cut salt out completely and to read labels and choose foods with no or low salt. Don’t eat canned vegetables or add salt to foods, give up eating takeaways and noodles which are full of salt, cut out fizzy drinks, buy low salt bread and don’t eat processed meat such as ham and sausages. That is why fruit and vegetables are better for you.

Use fresh and dried herbs, lemon or lime juice to add flavour to your dishes. Buy unsalted cashews or almonds for stir-fry’s or salads, use lemon or herbs in olive oil, cumin, jalapenos and chilli powder to make food hot, mustard seeds and turmeric for Indian food, and in Asian cooking aniseed, basil, mint or coriander.

There are a lot of ways to lower your blood pressure naturally but a word of warning. If your doctor puts you on medication make sure you take it as was well as the natural supplements. Stopping high blood pressure medication suddenly can cause serious medical conditions. Also never just go into a health food store and buy a supplement for high blood pressure unless you have been assessed by a registered, natural practitioner who knows your body and medical history fully. The person in the shop is often a sales assistant and even if it is a naturopath they do not necessarily know your particular case. It is important to have a health practitioner that you can trust that knows exactly what natural supplements you should take. They are all different and made by different companies and substituting one for the other does not work.
